Trinity Church, Bolton

Had my eye on this one for years, walking past it most days on the way to work.

The church is right in public view at a busy set of traffic lights just outside the town centre.

It had been locked up tight as people had been living rough inside and a building surveyor had fallen to his death in the bell tower back in 2006.

August 2011, Urban Spaceman teasingly mailed me some pics saying the place was now wide open early on in the week and he had sneaked a peak.

Built in 1818, this Grade II listed church having closed in 1992 is, well f***d.

This has been an on/of project for an apartment conversation and has been left to slowly rot, even the floor has been thieved by the local rapscallions !

I stuck to the ground floor areas of the building as I was on my own (breaking my no 1 rule of not visting places on my own). This place was one of the most eerie places I have ever visited....

  1. I now have the wide angle lens that this place so needed. But it is locked up (and down) once more.
